A lot (maybe most) of the PixelArt Gallery miscategorizations are because:

PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHAT PIXEL-ART REALLY IS.

So, here I shall explain two deffinitions:

WRONG DEF OF PIXEL-ART: a drawing done in MSpaint or photoshop without using AntiAliasing ( read [link] if you don't know what AA is).

REAL DEF OF PIXEL-ART: a picture, normally small-scale, done meticulously placing each pixel personally using a mouse (OR A TABLET, KAY ? BUT STILL PLACING THEN ONE BY ONE) and with a zoom of 8x or more. PixelArt is normally done in MSpaint, GIMP or photoshop - I repeat, you need to place EACH pixel personally, one-by-one with the pen tool at size 1. Other tools that may be used are the fill bucket, selection tool, etc.
Spray, line/curve, bezier and shape tools should not be used in pixel-art.

Pixel-Art does not use color effects (such as lowering oppacity, etc) - this is why it can be made perfectly with MS paint - other programs can be used simply because it is easier to save the color palette and do each item in a different layer. Your color palette must be chosen by you - stealing colors from other works (other than yours) could be considered cheating (free color palettes are not included in this, those you can use).

SO THERE. A tablet drawing in mspaint/without AA is NOT PIXEL ART. A mouse drawing (freehand) using mspaint/without AA but WITHOUT placing pixel-by-pixel is NOT pixel-art. :)

Little side note: FAN-ARTS don't go into the pixel-art category either, they go into fan-arts -> digital drawing. ^^.

Mmmm Angelish, te estas equivocando. Usar una tableta para hacer pixel art es igual que hacerlo con mouse, es lo mismo, también se hace pixel por pixel pero es más ágil.

Además el pixel art no solo es usar el AA, también tiene conceptos como el dithering.

Sobre como uno consiga los colores no es un "truco", es simplemente encontrar una armonía en color, es como si le dijeras a un pintor que hiciera sus propios colores para luego pintar. Un pintor coge los colores, a lo mejor luego los mezcla, y luego los usa.

El resultado final es lo que cuenta. un pixel art está hecho "pixel por pixel", pero tampoco es tan "heavy" como lo pintas :/

Pues en ningun momento dije que no se podia usar tablet ._. (se me fue poner en parentesis que se podia, pero no dije que no se podia ^^).
Y se que tiene dithering y otras millones de cosas, pero no voy a explicar todas las tecnicas y eso, el pixel-art en lo basico es: pixel-por-pixel, no voy a hacerles una definicion digna de Wikipedia xD.

...Y quien dijo algo de truco O_o? No dije nada raro sobre los colores, te has equivocado al leer ^^.

I draw things in MSPaint, but I don't submit them as pixel art, because they're drawings.

Very true!

Pixel-art is a major trend on dA now so people think if they submit it they'll get more pageviews.
